This is sort of a place holder.
Some of you know that i've been doing Race for the Cure (fundraiser for breast cancer treatment and research) for the past few years. This year i have a team. I encourage all of you to eithe join my team, or donate money to it.

Okay, some information about the race:
This is a 5K road race, which runs along the Alaskan Way Viaduct in downtown Seattle. A portion of your registration, plus any extra donations you can scare up, goes to breast cancer charities. This charity is run by Puget Sound Komen, which has an excellent rating in terms of their responsible use of the funds they raise.
The race itself is on June 16 this year. You can sign up for a women's only timed run, a co-ed timed run, a co-ed walk, or even a 'sleep in for the cure'. It is a nice route to run - lots of fun to look out over Puget Sound or downtown. If you are training for other things this summer, its a great way to break into the season. If you aren't, you can either use this event as inspiration to get some walking and running in this spring, or just plan to walk it with no advance preparation.
As an aside - last year i'd wanted to do a brunch or something, but it sort of fell through. If we get a good crowd this year i may try that again, or team shirts or something... No promises yet, but, if that sort of thing drives you, let me know.
Hope to see you there!

Date: 2007-04-10 05:36 am (UTC)I think it's funny that neither the link you posted nor http://www.seattleraceforthecure.org/ tells me what the date is. :)

Date: 2007-04-10 04:51 pm (UTC)I think the race information is hard to find. I also haven't figured out how to log into my account without pretending i'm going to register a new person first. Blah.

Date: 2007-04-10 09:15 pm (UTC)The Mariners are actually out of town that day so a brunch seems a lot more likely if we can get our acts together -- would it make sense to plan it at someone's house rather than at a restaurant?
