There is so much to write here, but I'm having a hard time being organized to write any of it.

So.

I've been in a little acquisitional mode lately.

For my birthday I got two new jackets - a normal jacket from my MIL. Cool thing about this, aside from it being comfy and easy to wear (all day at work, its a light jacket), is that the pockets have zip pockets inside large hand warming pockets. This thrills me, since i'm always worried about things falling out of my pockets even if they zip because i unzip them to put my hand in...
I also got a new rain-biking-jacket from my parents. Its a Showers Pass, and so far seems pretty bad ass. Its a little hard for me to get up the energy to bike to work on a regular basis, but i'm still determined to do it sometimes, and i'm actually pretty excited for that first down-pour-commute with this thing. Works pretty well just in the cold, but i think it will really pay off in a down pour.

I bought myself a pair of corduroys. And then i bought a second pair. Its awfully indulgent. However, i really liked the first pair, and i've recently had to throw out two pairs of jeans for being indecently-full-of-holes, and a pair of old cords is pretty threadbare, too. So I indulged, and i love them, so i'm pretty happy about that. Truth is, i'd feel a little weird going to work down town in yoga pants every day, so its definitely worth spending the small amount of 'extra' pay check to renew my wardrobe a little bit.

Then I got myself a pair of clogs. These were to fit the 'slip on, keep my feet out of the rain' bill. I'd been thinking of boots last year, but talked myself out of new boots (since i do have old boots that i'm still wearing, even though they're not slip-on), so i let myself get the clogs. I love them. I love them so much that i'm wishing i could justify buying a second pair - they slip on, i'm wearing them over warm socks, they are tall enough that my feet stay dry, i can run in them, they are so comfy.

And there you go, i've been spoiled, and i'm enjoying it.

Those sound like nifty pockets!

What shoes did you get? I have been sort-of-looking for quite a while for a pair of shoes that fulfill a similar purpose.

Oh, yeah, so there is this clog store on 1st, just south of Yessler. I walked there during lunch one day to do my shopping. I wasn't brave enough to order something on line without trying something on first. They didn't have a great selection, and i think next time i'll order something on line, but it was really good to try things on and look in person.

Those all sound like awesome buys. Share the brands? The only clogs I've been able to stand are cheap garden clogs, and I accept that my heels still get damp with them sometimes.

My pants are almost always Gap (Old Navy/ Banana republic) which i order on-line. The brands are relatively consistent, fit me well, come in a style that works for me, and in a Tall size. The tall size is what really drew me in, but i appreciate the other factors as well. (I think i'm going to be wearing low-rise /boot cut for life; i do not feel like the current skinny-style works on my body at all, and i dread a day when people start to prefer high-rise things which just don't fit my lack of waist.)

The clogs are Sanitas. (http://www.sanita.com/collections/closed-back-clogs/products/dally) I guess these guys have the same parent brand as Dansko, and, the clogs i tried on from the two brands were very similar (the Sanitas ran a bit small, so i had one size up from my normal European size).

I bought these clogs not for tooling around in a garden, though, but rather for walking around down-town for work, or the zoo with my kids. I chose the style i did because they looked decent with the new corduroys for work... (My temptation to buy a second pair is to get a funky pair that i can wear during my parenting-gigs or free-time so that i can reserve this pair as decent looking for work. I know they will get beat up pretty quick if i wear them all the time.) I'm pretty sure that they would still get wet inside if i wore them around a grassy field, but they seem good if i wear them on rainy paths/pavement.

I also got the ones with heels, because they feel more secure. Actually, the heels don't grip when i'm walking (the guy at the store said that was normal), but they keep them from being kicked off forward. They still slip on easily. I'm thinking this will also help keep the water off my heels.

I can't go for a run in the them, but i can chase a kid across a parking lot pretty effectively, which is sort of magical. My old heavy-keep-my-feet-out-of-water shoes are wearing out and have gotten a bit wiggly for that purpose although they are still ok for just wearing. (I suppose i should see if i can have those repaired, actually, since fixing the seams that are breaking might help without doing much else to them.)

Aha, those look super awesome! I REALLY don't need more shoes though, and I'm pretty sure I wouldn't wear that type even if I bought them, so I will just do my best to appreciate them vicariously through you.

I am also stuck in the low-rise/boot cut style of pants, mostly because it's been hard to find styles that fit my bodytype. Unfortunately, all this running and cycling I've been doing the past few years has made it even harder. Argh! Fortunately for me, I'm a size and height that thrift stores are plentiful in, so I've pretty much always been able to find stuff there if I look hard enough.

I believe you and I have the same waist issue that a) makes a high-rise cut awkward and b) makes us look oddly mis-shapen with skinny-jeans. ;) You might end up liking Gap fits if you tried, but i'm really in it for the 36" in-seam.

I like the pants that i have that have some elastic in the fabric, because they stretch around my thighs without being weirdly loose at the top (less of a problem now than it used to be...). They do seem to wear out more quickly, though.

Which ShowersPass jacket did they get you?

And, what do you wear for rainpants/shoe covers?
