At MEC we can get lights for $4.75 -- just for visibility, of course, not for lighting up the path. Unfortunately they don't last me long: I keep giving them away to unlit friends.
Yes, there are a plethora of cheap and almost-disposable lights available here, too. I think a lot of them are worth buying to have lots around - i also use them while running, or walking the dog, or to put on my kids, etc. etc.
