To take a red eye to DC the night before i have an all day and probably grueling meeting, right?
I just don't want to be gone any longer than necessary, but i think this might be NOT SMART.

A lot of people do it. I have never been useful after a red-eye.

I used to take them all the time, without too much of a problem. But, the seats are going to be even less comfortable than normal for me, so i don't think i can rely on sleeping even as much as i usually do. Additionally, i'm trying to ration my caffeine. And i can't afford to spend the day all groggy - especially if there are going to be powerpoint presentations in a dim room.

It just kills me - i spend and extra $400 or so, an extra night away from my kid, and have some boring time in DC. Sometimes flying to the east coast is just a huge PITA. It is also annoying that there are no flights that leave me the morning meeting time in DC on Wed., but still get me back before Madeleine's bed time.

Yeah, that is what I was going to say... under normal circumstances I'd say go ahead with it, but while pregnant, not so much.

If this was me, I'd be playing with fire trying to do this.

The one out would be if I could get a flight with the lay-down seats in first class. That might be doable.

I'm going to try this on Tuesday night flying out of HI to make it to work Wed. AM. I'll let you know how it works. (Oi.)

If i thought it was at all a normal work day i might try for it, but, between that and Deanna's point...
