Jun. 12th, 2002 11:16 amDuring the month of June, i'm doing a commuter challenge in which you try to ride your bike for as many days as you can. As a result, i have ridden my bike all three days this week.
It has been nice out, and I generally consider this to be a good idea. Especially because I am a lazy slacker, and wouldn't be getting to much exercise otherwise.
Riding on the streets, though, sort of terrifies me. It is very easy to miss a car somewhere, and i have yet to figure out a comfortable way to cross a few lanes of traffice when a left turn is required. Additionally, on some roads, there is barely enough room for two lanes of cars, never mind a biker on the side.
Davis, CA, is an eerie kind of planned city. However, it is about the most bike friendly place i've ever seen. It is mostly flat, and every road has huge wide bike lanes. Plus, more people ride bikes, which makes traffic cater to bikers more. I would probably appreciate that one little bit of living there, if we did live there.
Many parts of Europe would have similar advantages. That would be cool. (And, i like Europe a good deal more than Davis.)
Josh is looking for a job again. Once again, he has promised to send resumes to Boston. I don't know what it would take for us to move, and i think that the chances are very slim, but...
