Sep. 11th, 2002 10:25 amI have just gotten back from an excellent trip to the east coast. I am keeping a journal on my travels in a leather bound sketch book, so i won't bore you with the details here. (I hope to do more drawing and thinking in that journal, but i haven't quite developed the skills yet.)
Anyway, first off, in case anyone is unsure of my schedule for the fall, here is the most up to date version:
6 - 8 Sep: Washington, DC with Beth&Mark
8 - 9 Sep: Norfolk, VA at USS Nicholson
15 Sep: Travel day to Port Canaveral, FA
16-26 Sep: USS Nicholson
26 or 27 Sep: Travel from Norfolk to Seattle
(possible: 3-5 Oct: NYC)
6 Oct: Travel day to Norfolk
7 -13 Oct: USS Nicholson
13 or 14 Travel day from Norfolk to Seattle
28 Oct: travel to Biloxi, MS
29-31 Oct: Oceans2002
1 Nov: Stennis & travel.
I only hope that all trips are as good as the most recent one.
Anyway, some random thoughts:
I'm sorry I ditched Deanna yesterday. I forgot to call her and let her know that my return travel was delayed. I would have liked to hang out with her as we had originally discussed. Also, i'd like to give her a hug and make all illnesses go away.
I loved the towns we visiting in Maryland (Annapolis) and VA (Williamsburg and Portsmouth). The weather was beautiful to my eyes - steamy and summery. The trees were in full bloom, and there were flowers and greenery. The water was incredible. The architecture was beautiful, and stately. The architecture is definitely nicer than it is here. On Monday night we walked through OldTown in Portsmouth. The hurricane was building, so the air was steamy, the wind was whipping, and everything felt right with the world.
My colleague and travelling companion was interesting. I feel like i learned a lot.
I really liked sea kayaking.
I am commemorating 9/11 by going to work, and living my life. I have really mixed, but mostly negative, feelings about the way that the media and government are handling the event. I have highly negative feelings towards the government in general. Sigh.
As an aside... it looks like a busy week this week. I have work to do, chores to do, presents to make, and details to take care of (plane tickets, school funding, etc.). But, maybe i'll fit some fun in there too. I ought to play a game with Josh. (Dee... btw, Josh plays games a lot, especially when i'm not around. Feel free to call him and suggest a gaming evening. I hope he will have a lot of those while i'm away. It would be good for both of you.)
