Seriously... it helps me to help others who are worse off when I'm all in my "poor me" phase. Volunteering at a community meals program and Meals on Wheels did it often while I lived in Davis. Harvesters was the place in KC... haven't really found an easy-to-get-to and kid-friendly one here yet, though.
